A test: My first Bullet Journal!

The Bullet Journal is the newest addiction of mine.

Check out the Bullet Journal website for the best explanation.

I was cautious at first and did not purchase a dotted notebook immediately, instead I made my own small notebook for testing. The process for that was easy, print out a dot grid on two sides of A4 paper, fold all the pages with my lovely bone folder and a cover page from sturdier paper, punch holes with a pin and sew it all together.

You can see a gallery of all my pages at the bottom of the post.

Supplies

  • My self-made notebook
  • Uni-ball Eye pen
  • Uni-ball Signo white pen (not pictured)
  • Stabilo point 88 fineliners
  • Pelikan textmarkers
  • Pritt glue stick
  • Copic alcohol markers
  • Edding 1800 Profipen 0.3 (not pictured)

These are not all the supplies I used, some parts were done with watercolor and I couldn’t find my punch for the picture.

Movies & Shows / Spa Habit Tracker

This is one of my March tracker spreads with Movies & Shows I watched and my so-called Spa Habits, in which I track my bathroom routines.

The Movies & Shows are pretty self-explanatory: I added smilies to see whether I liked something or not. Sorry Batman V Superman

I wasn’t sure what I should track at my first attempt at tracking and I picked body care as the common theme, because I know I need to be more consistent in taking care of my skin. It is an ongoing problem.

Sleep and Mood Trackers

I honestly did not expect the mood tracker to end up how it did when I started designing it. I knew I wanted it to be a circle and only while working on it realized that I was going to create rays of sunshine! So I quickly added a yellow center with a little face. It also just happened to be that I landed on a yellow them for that page (I was going for a pastel rainbow in the month of April) – what a lucky moment!

You may also notice my sub theme for April – April Ludgate. I added another quote of hers for the April intro spread, you can see that in the gallery down below.

Monthly Spread for April

This is my April monthly spread with a small calendar, something I am not happy with and have not done for the May spreads in my new Leuchtturn 1917 notebook. The days are not big enough here to contain all the information I want them to contain, everything just feels too crammed. I did like the Tasks and Growth elements of the spread though.

Weekly Spreads

One of my favorite spreads: the last week of April.

It was actually an advantage to fit 8 days into one page, it didn’t make sense to exclude the last day as a Monday from the spread. So I had a nice amount of space for each day and simply fit the water and 5-a-day tracker under it as well as a time tracker. I had used a time tracker on the previous weeks as well, but adding color coding made it a lot more enjoyable.

For the last week I also opted in to trying out daily entries. I used a time tracker for each day individually on top of each entry.

I really liked this format over my previous weekly spreads as there just wasn’t enough place to track everything and I also started using a real key system for each day. For the upcoming month I will also use this, but the days will be evenly distributed on the two sides. I just have to be symmetrical.

If you made it this far: thank you for reading!

I hope you enjoyed the spreads and let me know if you have any question or found one of them inspiring enough to create your own version of it.

You can find links to my twitter and instagram accounts in the sidebar, if you want to keep up to date with more bullet journal spreads and my other illustrations and calligraphy work.

Take care!
